Yokohama is the biggest city in Kanagawa Prefecture, with the population of about 3,702,000.
In 19th century, The port of Yokohama became the main hub for Japan’s foreign trade. The Foreigners began to move into the Kannai district. There is a street called Bashamichi. 'Basha' means horse drawn buggy and 'michi' means road.
This street was a main road for foreign residents and Yokohama port. The foreigners had come and gone by horse drawn buggy. Therefore they called this street such name.
Also, Yokohama Chinatown is one of the largest chinatown in the world. They have more than 500 of restaurants and shops.
